Sylvia Paull (www.sylviapaull.com) specializes in publicity, strategic marketing and business development services for high-tech companies, such as Ask, Authentic8, and Handshake, as well as for nonprofits, such as the Internet Archive and the UCSC Genomics Institute. She founded Gracenet, a networking group for women in high tech with chapters in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and is also on the advisory board of Shebooks.net. For several years, Gracenet's DisGraceful Award in Advertising – given to the most sexist ad in high tech media -- made the news itself and encouraged companies like IBM and InfoUSA to withdraw ads depicting women as inferior beings.
She organizes events that bring people together and are intended to generate ideas, sometimes even disruptive ones. She was formerly marketing director for Software Ventures; board member of BMUG (Berkeley Macintosh Users Group); co-producer of "Science Editor," a radio show distributed by CBS; and a freelance writer for Wired.
Sylvia was featured in article for Fast Company magazine where she was touted as one of the most effective behind the scenes connectors in Silicon Valley.
